Danielle Marie (Sommer) Babu went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at her home in San Ramon, California.
Danielle was born on June 16, 1988, at Eden Hospital in Castro Valley, California, to Ralph Barney Sommer and the late Paula Regina (Ruark) Sommer. She grew up in San Ramon, where she developed a deep love for family, faith, and serving others. A gifted athlete, Danielle played softball at Ohlone College before continuing her education in Business Administration at California State University, East Bay. She built a successful career in federal security with Cayuse Technologies, where her intelligence, dependability, and calm approach earned the respect of her colleagues. She believed deeply that being a working mother was not only a privilege, but an opportunity to show her children that strength, compassion, and purpose could exist together. After spending nearly a decade in Atlanta building her career and raising her family, she recently returned to San Ramon, where she was grateful to be raising her children close to the place she always considered home and rejoining St. Joan of Arc Parish, the church where she had been baptized decades earlier.
Above every title she ever held, Danielle was a mother. Her greatest joy, greatest purpose, and greatest calling were her children. She wanted them to experience the wonder of childhood — to sing loudly, read often, explore the world, and make memories that no screen could ever replace. She intentionally filled their days with books, adventures, celebrations, and simple moments together because she believed childhood was something to be protected and cherished. She fiercely protected their innocence while preparing them to become kind, compassionate, and courageous people. She believed the greatest lessons were taught through love, example, and simply being present. She believed life's greatest memories were found in everyday moments, and she devoted herself to filling her family's life with love, laughter, adventure, and cherished traditions.
Danielle possessed a rare combination of gentleness and strength. She had an incredible capacity for kindness, yet when the people she loved or the values she believed in needed defending, she found remarkable courage. Deeply loyal and dependable, she believed every child deserved love, every person deserved dignity, and no one should ever feel forgotten. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel seen, cared for, and deeply loved — whether they were family, lifelong friends, or someone she had only just met. After losing her mother at a young age, Danielle quietly stepped into the role of caregiver, helping support her father, her brother, and later devoting herself completely to the beautiful family she created with Badhree. She never sought recognition for the sacrifices she made. She simply loved, served, and showed up. She made the people she loved feel like they mattered.

Danielle is survived by her beloved husband, Badhree Babu, whom she married on April 10, 2021; her cherished children, Ezekiel Joseph Ruark Babu, Inez Paula Babu, and Zayden Johnley Clayton Babu; her devoted father, Ralph Barney Sommer; and her brother, Joshua Paul Bernard Sommer (Megan), who loved his little sister beyond measure.
She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Priya Suresh (Suresh); her nieces and nephews, Scarlett, Violet, and Sterling Sommer, and Nehaa and Niyenth Suresh; along with many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives are forever better because of her.
She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, unwavering loyalty, quiet strength, and hope. She showed us that the greatest impact we can have is not in what we accomplish for ourselves, but in how deeply we love others. Though her time with us was far too short, the light she brought into this world will continue to shine through her children, her family, and every person fortunate enough to have known and loved her.
